IMPRS on Astrophysics visited the Wendelstein Observatory!
On May 22, 2025, we were able to take our IMPRS on Astrophysics students on a field trip to the Wendelstein Observatory of the University Observatory of the LMU Munich.
The Wendelstein Observatory is a modern research center that had its origins in solar observation and has been dedicated exclusively to the observation of nocturnal celestial objects since 1988. The showpiece is the 2m telescope, but the old reflector telescope with its 80cm aperture and the 43cm planewave telescope were also worth seeing.
